Make it Monday #190 - Stamping a Plaid Background

Over at Papertrey, this week's Make it Monday is all about stamping a plaid background.  I decided to make a simple card for a cousin of mine who is quite sick.  I like to send him cards every week or two to keep his spirits up.
I made a card base with Recollections 110lb cream - a smaller card than usual of about 4 x 5.  I stamped a plaid background with Faux Ribbon using Fresh Ink Sicilian Blue, Tuscan Olive and Pear.
I added a Fabulous die cut using a linen impressed piece of New Leaf cardstock.  I added all the elements flat to the card to make it easy to mail.

November blog hop: Season's Greetings

                                                                                    {central park photo credit}

I love this inspiration photo from this month's blog hop over at Papertrey Ink.  I was inspired by the snow to add some 'snow' to my card.  I took some Glossy Accents and added little dots all around the outside of the card base and added some Martha Stewart blue glitter.  Very haphazard and freehand ...
I added an Aqua Mist panel cut with a stitched rectangle and added some Fresh Ink Birch stamped strings and a bow from the No Strings Attached stamp set.
Then I straightened out a Tinsel and Tags sentiment using Versafine Deep Lagoon ink.  I added the Aqua Mist layer to the front with some foam tape.

Please excuse the bad pictures - there is no natural light so that's the best I could do! :)

November blog hop: peace

I made a super simple card using a Damask Snowflake die cut from a glitter pad of card stock.  I added a 'peace' die cut from Wet Paint: Holiday and added Glossy Accents and Martha Stewart gold glitter.
I added lots of foam tape to the back and adhered it to a linen white card base.

November Blog Hop: peace & joy

I got a lot of inspiration from this month's blog hop over at Papertrey Ink.  I took a cream 110lb Recollections card base cut down a bit smaller and added some Fresh Sicilian Blue polka dots to the background.
I cut out Wet Paint die cuts 'peace' and 'joy' using one of my last few sheets of kraft cardstock and added some Wink of Stella.  Check out the glittery clear Wink of Stella on the up close shot of 'joy':
I added a Grand Ampersand die cut using glitter card stock in gold to the middle and adhered them all using some trusty Tombo Mono Aqua (a new fave adhesive of mine).
Simple, one layered and easy to mail - perfect for the holidays!

November Blog Hop: wintry joy

This month's blog hop over at Papertrey Ink is all about snow and a winter wonderland.  I decided to use the Tinsel and Tags dies to make a cut out card.
                            Blog-hop-logo
I took a grey card base and stamped polka dots all over the background with Vintage Cream ink.  I then added some Zing Gold glitter embossing powder with Versamark and a Wet Paint Holiday stamp.  I then used a circle die to cut out the centre.
I made a layered Tinsel and Tags winter wonderland scene using Recollections white 110lb cardstock, lots of foam tape.
I added lots and lots of Ranger Rock Candy glitter using a two way glue pen and layered it up.
Check out the shimmer but please disregard my shadow trying to get a clear shot! :)

November Blog Hop: joy

                                Blog-hop-logo
This month's blog hop over at Papertrey Ink is all about the holidays.  I decided to get some cards made since I better get busy and start sending them soon! :)

People have been using embossing paste for quite a while and I jumped on the bandwagon a while back.  I have a Heidi Swapp stencil that I got on sale a while back and used some texture paste (Goldens - cheaper than the embossing paste) and added some Ranger Rock Candy dry glitter.  Love the shimmer of this!
I added a Scarlet Jewel die cut from Wet Paint die cuts and added some Wink of Stella clear on top.  Pretty much one layer - easy and flat for mailing ...

November Blog Hop - Happy Christmas

This month's blog hop over at Papertrey Ink has a whole bunch of fun wintry images for us to draw inspiration from.
Snowflakes
I wanted to make a simple tag to use for the holidays so I took out some kraft cardstock (eeek - I'm running low!) and stamped polka dots using Vintage Cream ink.
I added a Happy one liner die cut with gold glitter card stock and added 'Christmas' in Versafine Onyx Black using Wet Paint:Holiday.
 Love the sparkle!
Super simple but oh so useful!  Who doesn't need more tags, right?  :)

Cure for the Monday Blues #34

Just squeaking in under the deadline for this fun pastel colour combo!  Taheerah's gorgeous inspiration picture made me want to create a shaker card.  My first attempt didn't go too well and the static adhered to the glitter so I tried again with some sequins.
I took a Recollections 110lb card base and made a 4.25" square card.  I cut a Lil Inkers square sticked frame using two dies and stamped the center with a Wplus9 feather set - love these little feathers!  I used Fresh ink peach, sicilian blue and sugar.
I masked off the center and stamped PTI's chevrons using Fresh ink in turquoise all over the background.
I used some foam tape for the back and a piece of acetate glued down with Tombo Mono Aqua (works great and dries clear).  I added some clear, turquoise and purply gray sequins and that's it!

Sparkly Happy

I had a birthday card to make for a friend and I had already created this sparkly background:
I took a Heidi Swapp stencil I got on sale and used some Golden's Texture Paste (cheaper than the paste from craft stores) and added it with an old credit card.
While it was still wet, I added Martha Stewart's glitter in gold which adds a gorgeous look to the background.  To make the birthday card, I added some Fresh ink in Fuschia to a piece of Recollections 110lb white cardstock and used one of the Wet Paint dies to cut out 'happy':
I adhered it using Tombo Mono Aqua glue (a new fave of mine!) to the front of the card.  I love the look of the bright pink against the white and gold.
I just picked up some brown paper bags with a white stripe - I am planning on using some of these for Christmas card envelopes.  I added a gold strip of washi on the back to close the envelope and that was it.

Make it Monday #188: Stamped Ombre Backgrounds - Christmas Cheer

This week, over at Papertrey Ink, the Make it Monday technique is Ombre Stamped Backgrounds. The fabulously talented Laura Bassen (whose videos I love!) showed us a gorgeous creation.  I was inspired to make some cards of my own.
For my next card, I took the Ombre Background set and stamped three shades of Fresh Ink (Mint, Tuscan Olive and Pear) as a back panel.  I then added a die cut from the Holiday Wet Paint set and used all my pinks and reds from Fresh Ink using another Ombre Background stamp.  (Inks - Sugar, Red Currant, Fuschia, Merlot)
I cut out three more of the words using PTI's Scarlet Jewel and then layered them up with the Ombre stamped one on top.  I used some Tombo Aqua glue (a new favourite of mine) and added Glossy Accents over the die cut.

You probably can't see it but the Glossy Accents is actually over some Wink of Stella clear ...
And here's a full shot of the card in all its simplicity:

PTI Make it Monday #188: Ombre Backgrounds - happy

This week, over at Papertrey Ink, the Make it Monday technique is Ombre Stamped Backgrounds. The fabulously talented Laura Bassen (whose videos I love!) showed us a gorgeous creation.  I was inspired to make some cards of my own.

I took the Ombre Background set and stamped a bunch of colours from Fresh Ink (Sugar, Red Currant, Fuschia, Pear, Tuscan Olive, Blue Sage, Steel Blue, Fresh Lavender).
I took the panel and die cut 'happy' using one of my beloved Wet Paint dies.  I painstakingly added the little dots back in and then popped the panel up onto a linen card base.
Lots and lots of foam tape ... always a good thing so there are no saggy droopy portions of the panel, right?!
Love stamping ombre - thanks for the reminder, Laura! :)
And a closeup of the panel with the blended shades ...
